Book description:
China’s New Energy Revolution explains how China can tackle its energy bottleneck and achieve a sustainable, peaceful rise by taking the lead in the solar industry.

Li Hejun says that the present fossil fuel-based energy system is nearing its end, and that the conditions necessary for a transfer to solar power have already been met. “With both demand and preconditions,” he writes, “a new energy revolution is unstoppable.”

The planet’s energy crisis knows no bounds; it is widespread and extraordinarily complex. But there is reason for hope. This book offers a realistic approach to solving a problem that can often seem unsolvable.

About the Author:
Li Hejun was born in 1967 into a Hakka family in Heyuan City, Guangdong Province. He is now the Vice President of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, member of the National CPPCC and the President of China New Energy Chamber of Commerce. He is the Chairman and CEO of Hanergy Holdings Group.

As a renewable energy entrepreneur, Li launched the “Global Replacement Initiative” for clean energy to replace fossil fuels. Both a new energy strategist and practitioner, he is among the first to advocate for distributed generation in China and to popularize the idea of consumers’ generating electricity for their own needs and sending surplus back into the power grid.

Li founded Hanergy in 1994 with an ambition to give back to the country by developing its industrial sector. With a firm belief that clean energy can change the world, he led Hanergy to complete Jinanqiao Hydropower Station, the world’s largest hydropower station invested and built by a private company. In 2006, he made his first move into the photovoltaics (PV) industry and strategically predicted that thin films and flexibility are the future trends of the PV industry. Today, Hanergy has grown into a global leader in thin film solar panel manufacturing, both in terms of output and technology.

“In 2035, clean energy, as represented by solar power, will replace 50%

of fossil fuels.” Based on this prediction, Li suggests that PV will become a pillar among new energy sources, play an important role in the Third Industrial Revolution, and profoundly change the way we live and work. In this process, China has every reason to go ahead of others. PV will become an engine for the rise of China and for the realization of the Chinese dream.
